BPPV Relief - A Comprehensive Tool for BPPV Treatment
BPPV Relief is an Android application developed by Burston Software that provides a comprehensive range of tests and treatment manoeuvres for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), a common inner ear balance system disorder. The application offers easy-to-follow animations that demonstrate the different diagnostic tests for posterior and horizontal canals, along with the direction of eye movements seen with a positive test. The treatment manoeuvres animations also show the semicircular canals moving in the same plane as the head, with the crystals moving around and out of the canal during each manoeuvre. Created by a physiotherapist with over 2000 successful BPPV treatments, the app follows the same steps used to diagnose and treat BPPV in her dizziness clinic. It is designed for health professionals who specialize in treating people with dizziness and vertigo, people who have been diagnosed with BPPV and instructed by a qualified health professional to do a particular treatment manoeuvre at home, and people who have been diagnosed with BPPV and treated successfully and safely with repositioning manoeuvres, who wish to self-manage recurrences.
